The Elder Care Ministries’ Chaplaincy Program is an outreach of ABCORI
to long-term care facilities interested in providing professional
spiritual care to residents, families and staff. Through this
ministry, facilities have the opportunity to integrate a part-time
chaplain into their care team. To help make this happen, the
program provides:
seed money to bring a part-time chaplain on staff
guidance in the hiring process of a fully trained professional
support in the development of a spiritual care program designed to
meet the unique needs of residents, families and staff of the
facility
quarterly quantitative assessments of the impact of professional
spiritual care on the entire facility
Elder Care Ministries works closely with administrators & staff to help
design a spiritual care program that fits the facility’s needs.
Full funding for the 20-hour/week chaplain position is provided for the
first year of the program; partial funding is provided for year two.
By the end of the second year, most facilities realize the impact of
the
program and take responsibility for compensating the chaplain’s position
on their own.
