Grandparents Camp

 

For nine years, older adults & their grandchildren have been gathering for a week of fun at Grandparents Camp at the Canonicus Camp & Conference Center in Exeter, RI.  Designed with both children and older adults in mind, Grandparents Camp brings generations together for a week of quality time, away from the distractions of everyday life.

Activities for Grandparents Camp include:
                   Arts and Crafts
           Boating
           Nature Walks
           Campfire Songs
           Archery
           Kids Games & More

     Offsite activities are also a part of Grandparents Camp. Included in the annual program is a day trip to Watch Hill with beach combing and bird watching at Napatree Point, as well as an evening at the Big Apple Circus in Charlestown, RI. 

Learning to be contributing members of the community is one of the experiences of Grandparents Camp.  Each year campers work together on a special project designed to “give back” to the camp property.  Previous projects have included building picnic tables and landscaping gardens. 

Accommodations for Grandparents Camp are in the Canonicus Retreat Houses with meals served lakeside at the Shaub Dining Lodge.

This year’s Grandparents Camp is set for July 6^th – 11^th.  Cost for the week is $250 per person & includes five nights’ accommodations, 14 meals, transportation to off-site activities & program materials.  Camperships are available for those in need of financial assistance thanks to the generosity of the Baptist Home Board of RI.  Contact Kathy Black for register.
