Started October 2008: In existence 30 months
Team: Rev. Bob Auld, Rev. Esther Irish, Bettye Williams Clanton, Linda Bausserman, and Rev. Carl Balark
Representative to Board of Ministries: Bob Auld
Emphasis: Our main emphasis as a team is to promote Healthy Pastors.
Goal: Our 2011 goal is to call every American Baptist pastor in our state and survey them as to whether or not they
are involved in spiritual care and covenant groups.
Possible questions:
• Are you able to attend the meetings that support pastors? ie Ministers Council
• If not, what would make it easier for you?
• Are you a part of a Together In Ministry (TIM) group?
• If not, in what type of group would you be interested?
• Would you be willing to covenant with one other pastor for prayer and accountability?
We work in synergy with:
1. Standing Committee on Ordained Ministry (SCOM) mentors seminarians through the in care process, helps with ordination requirements and eventual ordination, assists pastors in conflict. Contact: Rev. Kathryn Palen
2. Rhode Baptist Education Society (RIBES) assists seminary level students with educational advances, provides partial funding for seminarians going to the Center for Career Development. (The denomination takes care of most of the rest of the cost.) Contacts: Ethel Corbin (SCOM) and Bob Auld (RIBES)
3. Ministers Council holds at least four programs, usually on the fourth Thursday in November, January, February and March. Contact Marie Carpenter (President) or (Program Chair)
• Fall retreat is held at Canonicus on a Tuesday in October
• Block Island Retreat is held the second Tuesday in May (25 or more participated in 2010)
4. RI State Council of Churches (RISCC) planning a Fall 2011 event regarding end of life issues, through the RI Attorney General's subcommittee. Contact: Rev. Bob Auld
