THE RHODE ISLAND BAPTIST EDUCATION SOCIETY
The Society (RIBES) continues its mission of supporting seminarians by providing educational advances to students of our American Baptist Churches of RI (ABCORI) family. The yearly deadline for applications is March 31.
For the school year 2010-2011, we supported the following ten students:

Doris Hooks Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS)
Kyle Larguinha Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS)
Michelle Sullivan Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (GCTS)
Lee Williams Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME)
Joseph Campbell Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME)
Graciela Cortez Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME)
Roque Cortez Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME)
Rebecca Law Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS)
Lemeck Louis Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME)
As a Society, we support our students by paying a portion of the cost for going to the required Center for Career Development and we will also support our students who take an Ethics-Boundaries course. In a vote taken by the society in 2010, we voted to move our investments from the ABCORI pooled fund to Merrill Lynch Investments.
RIBES thanks John Tucker for shepherding us through the process and Sue Colantonio for organizing all theFinance Committee meetings.
